OfficeTeam sees Corporate Social Responsibility as part of a continuing process of building long-term value.
We recognise that good Corporate Social Responsibility encompasses environmental, social and economic issues and embraces all aspects of sustainable development and the way we affect people through our business operations. The following are keys areas of our strategy:
Ethical Trading
The Company’s approach to purchasing has a direct impact on the lives of people all over the world and we are therefore committed to doing business in a way which ensures that everyone in our supply chains benefits from trading with us.
Our policy is based upon feedback received from our customers and reflects their ethical concerns about how their money is spent on office services and products. It also informs our choice of suppliers and partners.
It is fundamental that all people affected by our business enjoy good health and safety standards, fair pay and employment conditions and high standards in their workplaces.
Human Rights
We will not purchase goods from:
- any government or business which fails to maintain or implement basic human rights within its influence
- any business whose links to an oppressive regime are a continuing cause for concern
Corporate Responsibility
We support businesses who take a responsible position with regard to:
- fair trade
- labour rights in their own operations and through their supply chains in developing countries
- Wherever possible we will always recruit from a local labour market, thereby enhancing our links with local communities.
- We will attempt to support charities and other organizations which are involved in and reflect the social and environmental principles of OfficeTeam
Environmental Responsibility
We support businesses involved in:
- recycling and sustainable waste management
- renewable energy and energy efficiency
- sustainable natural products and services including timber
- the goal of ecological sustainability
Goods purchased from developing countries are checked prior to despatch and all factories are inspected in conjunction with our ethical policy. As a Group we have the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard which ensures that we are constantly striving to improve our environmental impact.
The key objectives are:
- Staff awareness and opportunity
- Energy consumption management
- Internal waste
- Customer waste office paper collection
- Emissions to atmosphere
- Transport management: Logistics Fleet and Car Fleet
- Procurement/Supply chain management
- Discharges to water
- Legal responsibilities
Recycling
We will promote recycling and products which are either made from recycled materials, or are capable of being recycled, to our staff and customers.
Packaging
We aim to reduce the amount of packaging associated with our products, whilst also ensuring that our customers receive their goods in good condition.
Purchasing
We will operate a quality purchasing policy, working with our suppliers to encourage their participation in environmental best practice.
In particular, we will focus on our key product suppliers to ensure they have a suitable environmental policy which minimises the impact of their products and transportation on the environment.
We will work with our suppliers to offer our customers a choice of recycled products and to provide the ability to recycle products.
We will consider the environmental impact of our products at all stages of their life cycle, from sourcing, supply to customers and finally disposal.
Where practical to do so, we will use environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources to meet our needs.
Diversity
Workplace diversity is vital, as well as being a legal requirement. A diverse workforce provides a more stretching and enjoyable work environment.
We have a non discrimination policy to ensure that we do not discriminate; in addition we have all the necessary family friendly policies to support and encourage staff to return to work or work more flexibly with family commitments.
