History

The origins of OSG date back to the 1800's and the Group has developed as a result of a long term plan to grow by both acquisition and organic growth. Oyez and Straker merged on 1st September 1997, combining two companies each with their own long established pedigrees. Oyez - The Solicitors' Law Stationery Society Limited - was originally formed in 1888 to attend to the law writing requirements of the legal profession. Straker was founded in 1979 by Jonathan Straker (although the Straker family had been part of the stationery industry since 1863).

The most recent transactions have been the 2000 Acquisition of Stat Plus and the 2004 Acquisition of Lynch McQueen, the 2005 Acquisition of Whitegrove, the 2006 Acquisition of File and Data Storage and in 2007 the Acquisition of Dudley, Equations and Halls Office Team. Also in 2007 the Tertiary management buy out took place with Hermes being replaced by ABN. These acquisitions have led to the development of a multi brand approach, working off the same logistics structure - OfficeTeam.
